San Luis Obispo, Calif. - The Pacific Tigers women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Cal Poly on Sunday, Apr. 2.
The loss dropped the Tigers to 9-9 overall and 2-4 in the Big West Conference, while Santa Barbara moved to 11-6 on the season and 5-0 in conference play.
Once again the Tigers were forced to play without two players as junior Vana Mrazovic (Belgrade, Serbia & Montenegro) could not play due to injury, while freshman Jolanta Twarowska (Hamburg, Germany) sat out due to injury. The limited roster forced the Tigers to default at the No. 3 doubles spot as well as the No. 6 singles position. The injuries also forced the remainder of the roster to play up two positions.
Pacific did claim the top spot as senior Natalia Kostenko (Rostov-on-Don, Russia) defeated Samantha Waller, 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (5).
The Tigers will be back in action on Friday, Apr. 7 as Pacific hosts University of Nevada at 3 p.m.
