No. 13 Pacific Moves to 5-0 With 8-4 Win Over No. 16 St. Francis

Boston, Mass. - - In its final game of the MIT Invitational, No. 13 Pacific defeated No. 16 St. Francis 8-4 to finish the tournament 5-0, and improve to 5-0 on the season. St. Francis dropped to 2-1 on the season with the loss.

In the first quarter, sophomore Tyler Reardon (Oak Park, Calif.) scored the first goal of the game at the 4:58 point. The Tigers took a 2-0 lead when freshman Balazs Szabo scored with 1:30 remaining. St. Francis immediately responded scoring it's first goal just 25 seconds later. Freshman Goran Tomesavic (Split, Croatia) closed the quarter for the Tigers, scoring with 0:01 left on the clock to give Pacific the 3-1 lead at the break.

Sophomore Neil Bykerk (Palos Verdes, Calif.) opened the second quarter with a goal to give Pacific the 4-1 lead on his first goal of the game. Finishing out the second quarter, sophomore Tom Koning (Poway, Calif.) scored the last goal of the half with 2:18 left on the clock to put the Tigers up 5-2 at the half.

For Pacific in the third quarter, freshman Goran Tomasevic (Split, Croatia) scored his second goal of the game at the 6:47 point. St. Francis immediately responded scoring its third goal of the day with 6:43 left in the third. Both Pacific and St. Francis were held scoreless until the 6:42 point in the fourth quarter when St. Francis scored its fourth and final goal of the contest. Szabo and Koning closed out the game for the Tigers, scoring one goal apiece giving Pacific the 8-4 win.

Offensively freshmen Tomasevic and Szabo, and sophomores Reardon and Koning led the way, scoring two goals apiece for Pacific. Defensively, the Tigers limited the Terriers to one goal per quarter. Freshman Tomislav Bujas (Split, Croatia) appeared in his first collegiate game, finishing the day with 11 saves for Pacific.

Freshman Balazs Szabo (Budapest, Hungary) and sophomore Tom Koning (Poway, Calif.) finished the weekend with 15 and 16 goals, respectively.

Pacific continues action Saturday, Sept. 12 and Sunday, Sept. 13 as they travel to Redlands, Calif., for the Inland Empire Classic.
