San Jose, Calif. - The Pacific women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision at San Jose State on Saturday, Feb. 22. The Tigers fell to 4-3, while the Spartans improved to 4-8.
"It was a tough day for the Tigers," said Pacific Head Coach Charlotte Scatliffe. "The doubles point proved to be, as always, critical for the start and overall score. We had a good win at No. 2 and unfortunately came up just short at No. 1. Heading into the match with San Jose up 1-0 gave them some momentum in the singles. I'm proud of our 1 and 2 for fighting hard and especially proud of Iveta for playing great tennis and sticking to her game plan to pull out the win. I think everyone leaves this match knowing what they need to work on and we will do so this next week of practice before heading to Nevada."
Iveta Masarova and Cristiana Saenz de Buruaga earned a win at No. 2 doubles, while Masarova and Francis Dean won in singles action.
Pacific is next in action at Nevada on Sunday, March 2.
