DAVIS, Calif. - The men's water polo team opened up the Aggie Shoutout Friday night in full swing, rolling past the Lancers of CBU by a final score of 16-2. Pacific moves to 5-1 on the year while California Baptist drops to 4-5 overall.
In Case You Missed It:
- A strong first half outing by the Orange and Black allowed the Tigers to pull away early, scoring seven straight unanswered goals to take a 9-1 lead over CBU approaching the third period.
- Luke Pavillard registered his fifth hat trick of the season, finishing the day with a match-high five goals to go along with four steals.
- Pacific amped up the pressure on defense against the Lancers, recording a season-high 21 steals. Four Tigers recorded at least three steals.
- Eight Tigers recorded a goal in Friday night's contest, making it six straight matches with six or more players scoring a goal.
First Period:
- Ege Colak and Pavillard powered the Orange and Black on offense to start out the match, accounting for four of Pacific's six goals in the first period.
- The Tigers kept CBU scoreless in the first period. Alen Osmanovic played a significant factor in Pacific's shutout making three of his eight saves for the match in the first.
- A nice touchpass strike from Pavillard to Caleb Sandberg gave the Tigers some momentum heading into the second frame with the score at 6-0.
- Pacific took the most shots on goal in the first period with 11.
Second Period:
- Luke Pavillard picked up where he left off in the second, tallying a hat trick at the 7:39 mark to open up the period.
- Following a Lancer goal, Bogdan Djerkovic responded by scoring his solo goal of the night off an assist from Colak (3:53).
- An additional goal by Eli Lule (2:56) would keep CBU at bay and Pacific in the driver's seat heading into halftime, 9-1.
Third Period:
- Luis Araya, Colak, and Pavillard each scored goals in the second and final minute giving the Tigers a double-digit lead heading into the final period, 12-2.
Fourth Period:
- Pacific would close out the fourth period in shutout fashion, scoring four unanswered to cruise their way to their first win of the weekend.
- Andre Galvez would pick up his first goal of the year in the final minute off a pass from senior attacker Lucas Hastie.
Notables:
- In his first official match of the year, Andre Galvez scored his first goal of the season of a final-period strike with :36 to go.
- Following his sixth hat trick, Luke Pavillard added to his team-leading total of 29 goals for the year. Colak also tallied his fifth hat trick with with four goals and trails Pavillard with 26 goals.
- Alen Osmanovic played a full 32:00 in the cage for the Tigers. The redshirt sophomore finished with eight saves and three steals. He now has 44 saves on the year.

- The Orange and Black pick back up tomorrow with a double header against No. 3 Cal and No. 7 UC Santa Barbara.
- Pacific looks to rebound off a tough loss at home last Saturday against California. The Golden Bears took the match at Chris Kjeldsen by a final score of 11-8.
