STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific women's volleyball team dropped its final home match of the season, 3-1 (18-25, 19-25, 25-21, 16-25), to Saint Mary's on Friday night.
The Tigers fall to 13-16, 5-12 in the WCC, while the Gaels improve to 10-17, 6-11 in conference play.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
Set 1
- Saint Mary's opened with a quick 2-0 lead before the Tigers went on a 5-0 run to gain a three-point lead.
- The two squads were tied at 6-6, 7-7, 8-8, and 9-9 before SMC went on a 4-0 run to gain a comfortable 13-9 lead. The Gaels extended their lead, outscoring the Tigers 5-2 on the next seven serves (18-12).
- After two more four-point runs by the Gaels, the Tigers found themselves down, 22-12.
- At set point, Pacific would go on a final run of 5-0, but the Gaels would eventually finish off the set by a score of 25-18.
Set 2
- Pacific was down 7-3 before SMC went on a run that held at least a five-point lead the remainder of the set.
- Despite a five-pint run in the final moments of the set, Pacific was unable to overcome the Gaels 12-point lead that was gained at the 24-12.
Set 3
- Pacific hit a match-high .234 (17-6-47).
- The Tigers and Gaels began the third set by trading points with neither holding more than a two-point lead until later in the set.
- following a 15-14 deficit, Pacific went on a 5-0 run that put the Tigers up 19-15 on the Gaels.
- The two teams would go back and forth throughout the next 15 serves, with the Tigers finishing the set wit a four-point lead.
Set 4
- It was all Saint Mary's in the fourth set, thanks to six blocks in the first 12 serves.
- Halfway through the set, Pacific was down by significant margin (16-3).
- Pacific outscored Saint Mary's 8-2 over the next 10 serves to come back within six points (17-11).
- The Tigers would battle back within four points (20-16), but the Gaels scored five unanswered points to secure the match victory.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Riley Patterson smashed a team-high 12 kills, while Carissa Bradford totaled 11 kills.
- Defensively speaking, four players collected double-digit digs. Allison Dennemann and Jadyn Tubbs led the way with 18 digs a piece. Patterson had 15 digs and Gabby Leo had 11 digs.
- The Tigers edged the Gaels in digs (71-70) and assists (49-48), but were out-blocked 14-7.
