Pacific Welcomes Gonzaga, Portland

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific women's volleyball team will host two of its final three home matches this weekend.

VS. GONZAGA

  • Pacific continues to control its series with Gonzaga, improving its overall record to 11-3 after defeating the Bulldogs, 3-1, in Spokane nearly a month ago.

     

VS. PORTLAND

  • The Tigers lead the all-time series, 12-3. Pacific will play for the season split on Saturday after falling, 3-2  in its first meeting this season.

     

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT THE TIGERS

  • Despite going 0-2 last weekend against the WCC's standings leaders — San Diego and BYU — Pacific remains .500 (12-12) on the season. The Tigers are currently 4-8 in conference play.
  • Pacific tops its opponents with 15.46 points per set, 12.97 kills per set, 11.93 assists per set, and 1.57 service aces per set. 
  • The Tigers rank 38th in team kills (1,255), while also leading the WCC and ranking 95th in team digs (1,425).
  • Riley Patterson is the conference's leader in points (374), attacks (880), and kills (332), while Jadyn Tubbs leads the WCC with 394 digs on the season.

     

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS

  • Gonzaga is 7-16 overall, but has snagged just one (1-10) victory in WCC play.
  • Sarah Penner leads the Zags offensive efforts with 3.45 points per set and 2.77 kills per set, while collecting a second-best 26 service aces.

     

SCOUTING THE PILOTS

  • Portland dropped its matches against Loyola Marymount and Pepperdine last weekend en route to a new records of 11-11 overall, 3-8 against its WCC foes.
  • Shayla Hoeft contributes a team-leading 0.90 blocks per set and a second-best 3.52 points per set.
  • Setter, Kellie Hughes commands the offense with 10.19 assists per set. Hughes, along with teammate Carey Williams, has registered a team-leading 25 service aces.
