Tigers, Hornets Settle for 1-1 Draw

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Pacific men's soccer team held on for a 1-1 draw against Sacramento State on Sunday afternoon at Hornet Field

Pacific is now 3-3-1 on the season, while Sacramento State's record moves to 5-2-1.

 

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

  • The Tigers were out-shot by the Hornets, 17-5 en route three saves by Pacific keeper Ethan Bandre
  • Pacific's five shots is a season low and prior to Sunday's match the Tigers averaged nearly 16 shots per game.
  • It was almost 17 minutes into the game before the Tigers got a shot off. Ryan Her took his only shot on the night at 16:56, but the ball finished high.
  • Pacific found themselves in the lead following an own goal by Sacramento State. At 21:09, the Hornets attempted to clear on a Pacific cross and the ball deflected  in to the back of the net.
  • Despite facing four shots in the final 24 minutes, the Tigers held on to its lead through the remainder of the first half.
  • Less than a minute into the second half, Bandre recorded his third save of the game, facing a shot to the bottom right corner of the goal off the foot of Hornets' Genaro Alfaro.
  • Sac State evened the score with a goal scored in the 59th minute.
  • The Tigers had one last attempt at a win in regulation when they were awarded a corner kick at 85:31. Andreas Charalambous took a shot off the corner kick. Shortly after Tariq Branche sent a shot low and through the middle of the box, but Sacramento State's Curtin Ryan came up with the save, which forced overtime play.
  • In two overtime periods the Tigers were out-shot 4-1, but none of the shots finished on target.
  • In addition to Branche, Charalambous, and Her, Diego Villapudua and Mamoru Kamisasanuki also had shot attempts in the match.
