Tigers Battle on Central Coast

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The Pacific men's tennis team (1-8) battled on the Central Coast this past weekend with matches against UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly.
 
UC Santa Barbara 7, Pacific 
  • Pacific dropped the doubles point, but showed up for it in fight in singles competition.
  • Tadiwa Chinamo took advantage on two with a first-set 6-2 win.
  • Toi Kobayashi showed fight on five with a 5-7, 4-6 hard-fought decision. 
  • Akram El Sallaly and Manroop Saini also would not go down without a fight.
Cal Poly 4, Pacific 0
  • Chinamo and El Sallaly pushed the Mustangs to the brink on one, forcing the first doubles match to a 6-7 decision. 
  • Saini saw time on the court for the second straight match, with this weekend being his first singles action since tournament play in the fall semester.
  • El Sallaly put up a fight in singles on one, pushing his first set to 4-6.

  • Pacific will head to the Pacific Mountain Invitational in Fresno beginning on February 29 before returning home to start West Coast Conference with a March 7 match at 1:00 p.m. against San Diego at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center
