STOCKTON, Calif. – The #4 Pacific men's water polo team (16-3, 1-0) hosts its second of four home games this season on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 1 p.m., as part of Homecoming and Family Weekend.
The Tigers host the #10 Pepperdine Waves (11-9, 1-0) for their season's second Golden Coast Conference game.
"Pepperdine has a great team, and we will need to be at our best," said Head Coach James Graham. "We look forward to the challenge."
The Tigers have a five-game advantage over the Waves, with a record of 19-14 dating back to 2005. Pacific has won the last five battles between the teams, including a 12-10 victory the last time they met in 2021.
The Tigers have won three straight and five of their last six games.
Last week, Pacific claimed a key 15-12 win on the road over #6 Long Beach State, while Pepperdine scored eight-straight for a come-from-behind 13-10 win over #15 San Jose State.
The Tigers jumped out to an early first-quarter lead and never trailed to earn a win in the rematch with the Beach, who defeated the Tigers in last year's title game.
Senior Matthew Hosmer had a six-point game to lead the Tigers, scoring four goals with two assists. Sophomore Reuel D'Souza added three goals and an assist. Senior Jeremie Cote also had a four-point game with two goals and two assists. Senior Djordje Stanic had three goals, two late in the fourth that were critical to extending the lead.
Hosmer, senior Bogdan Djerkovic, sophomore Mihalio Vukazic, D'Souza and Cote are all in the GCC's Top-10 for scoring, with Hosmer ranking second with 40, Djerkovic fourth with 39 and Vukazic fifth with 38.
D'Souza is second in total points with 61 and fourth in assists with 26. Vukazic is fifth in the conference for points with 56.
Graduate student Bae Fountain is third in the GCC with 100 saves, and senior Joey MacLeane is fifth with 54.
