Game Recap: Men's Water Polo | | Alex Leroux

Tigers Fight Cardinal, Fall 12-8

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific men's water polo team (17-4, 2-0) battled the #3 Stanford Cardinal and the goalposts on Saturday afternoon, eventually falling 12-8.

"I think there were two stories going on in the game; there was the scoreboard, and then there was the game itself," said Head Coach James Graham. "The game itself was very evenly matched, and we were quite pleased with a lot of what was going on. The tough part is that when you're not hitting your shots and putting away your opportunities, the scoreboard doesn't always reflect what's happening, possession by possession."

Senior Matthew Hosmer and sophomore co-captain Reuel D'Souza led the Tigers with three goals each.

Senior Jeremie Cote and senior Djordje Stanic each netted one for the Tigers.

Graduate student goalkeeper Bae Fountain had 10 saves, six steals and one assist.

"Someday the ball goes the way you want it; some days it doesn't. You just got to rebound and get after it,' said Graham. "So, credit to Stanford, they played a really good game, but I was also very happy with where we're at. But, we've got to hit those shots when it comes November."

The Tigers are back in action next weekend for their last home game of the season. It's Senior Night against UC Irvine at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28.
