LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Pacific volleyball team dropped a 25-18, 25-13, 25-19 West Coast Conference match at Loyola Marymount Saturday afternoon at the Gersten Pavilion.
Logan Blutreich recorded a team-high six kills for the Tigers (10-8, 2-4) as the team finished with a total of 27. In 12 matches this season, Blutreich has recorded 31 kills and ranks fifth on the team with a hitting percentage of .257. The Chandler, Ariz. freshman tied her best hitting percentage in a match this season, registering a .500 against the Lions (10-6, 5-2) while only committing one error.
Defensively for the Tigers,
Jenna Heller and
Megan Nishimura both recorded six digs, while Heller added one block assist.
Alexa Edwards and
Sam Sublett also came through defensively, tallying one block assist apiece.
The Tigers kept the match tight in the first play set, rallying from a three-point deficit in the early stages to gain a narrow 13-11 advantage midway through the set. There were four lead changes in the following nine points before the Lions won eight of the final 10 points to secure the first set and gain an early lead in the match.
The Tigers dropped the following two sets, but hung around in the third frame, keeping pace with the Lions through the first 17 points of the set. The Lions jumped ahead by three points, 15-12, midway through the set and never looked back, securing the match and fending off a Tiger rally with a late run.
Pacific returns to action on Thursday, Oct. 13, as the Tigers face off against nationally-ranked San Diego at the Alex G. Spanos Center, with first serve scheduled for 6 p.m.
