Volleyball Drops Home Contest to Loyola Marymount

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific volleyball team fell to Loyola Marymount, 25-18, 25-17, 25-13, in a West Coast Conference contest Thursday evening at the Alex G. Spanos Center.

"LMU played well tonight, and we struggled to get anything going," Head Coach Greg Gibbons said after the match.

Senior Biamba Kabengele tallied a match-high 11 kills as the Tigers (13-11, 5-7) accumulated 29 throughout the match. Kabengele struck the ball well during the contest, recording a .364 hitting percentage and only committing three errors. The Burlington, Ontario native has tallied double-digit kills in four-straight matches and ranks seventh in the league with 148 conference kills.

Despite the Tigers winning four of the first five points to begin the match, the Lions (15-7, 10-3) embarked on a 10-1 run to take a commanding lead. Trailing 17-10 midway through the set, the Tigers made one last push to get back into the set, winning eight of the following 14 points to get within five, 23-18. The Lions, however, closed out the set shortly after, winning the final two points.

The Lions took control in the second and third sets to secure the straight-set victory.

Pacific returns to action at noon on Saturday, Nov. 5, as the Tigers host Pepperdine at the Alex G. Spanos Center.
