FRESNO, Calif. - The Pacific Women's Tennis team traveled to Fresno State on Sunday to take on the #51 Bulldogs. The Tigers fell to a strong, nationally-ranked Fresno State squad 6-1.
The Bulldogs took an early lead winning all three doubles matches, 6-3 in first and second doubles and 7-6 (7-3) in third doubles.
Klara Kosan fell 6-2, 6-3 in first singles. MiaAngelina Ruja fell 6-4, 5-7, 10-6 in second singles. Zoe Clydesdale-Eberle fell 6-4, 6-2 in third singles. Danielle Zamora fell 6-3, 6-4 in fourth singles. In sixth singles, Alexis Sam fell 6-4, 6-2.
Cindy Ung won the only match for the Tigers, 6-4, 6-0 in fifth singles.
"It was a tough loss to a solid Fresno State squad today. They showed why they're #51 in the country," said Head Coach Mike Erwin. "I do feel like we had our chances. We were serving for the doubles point, which would have given us momentum heading into singles, and came up just short. In singles, we had openings and just didn't convert. We're going to regroup and are looking forward to playing at home next weekend."
The Tigers take on Santa Clara in their first WCC match of the season at home on March 5 at 11 a.m. They then take on Cal Poly at noon, at home, on March 6.
