Tigers Fall in Perry’s Return to Idaho

MOSCOW, Idaho – Head coach Leonard Perry made his return to his alma mater as the Pacific men's basketball team (4-6) fell to Idaho (5-4), 83-53, Tuesday at ICCU Arena.

The Tigers drop to 1-3 on the road and 4-6 overall on the year. The Vandals won their fourth game of the season at home, improving to 4-2 and 5-4 overall on the 2023-24 campaign.

Turnovers plagued the Tigers, compiling 21 turnovers on the night, which served as the second-most in a game this season. The turnovers led to 24 points for the Vandals.

Junior Cam Denson tied a season-high with 15 points in 32 minutes, pacing the Tigers' offense on 5-11 from the floor. Denson also made 5-7 from the free throw line. Senior Judson Martindale and senior Lesown Hallums, Jr. finished in double figures with 12 points (5-11 FG) and 10 points (3-6 FG), respectively.

The Vandals led from wire-to-wire, utilizing an 11-0 run at the 9:28 mark of the first half to spring ahead 43-25 after 20 minutes. The Tigers had strings of minutes without a basket, giving Idaho an 18-point cushion at halftime. Denson led the Tigers with eight points at the break.

The pressure piled on the Pacific offense to respond as the team continued to mishandle the ball, resulting in quick-transition opportunities for the Vandals. Idaho would go on to shoot 48 percent from the floor (26-54) and 41 percent (12-29) from three-point range. The Tigers shot 31 percent (6-19) from downtown.

The Vandals' bench outscored the Tigers' bench, 27-7.

Pacific returns to warmer weather in California, concluding the road trip at Save Mart Center against Fresno State at 4 p.m. PST on Saturday, Dec. 9.
