STOCKTON, Calif. – Freshman Christina Agiomamitou and freshman Javier Lopez Guillen of the Pacific swimming program have been named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Athletes of the Week, as announced by the conference Tuesday afternoon.

The pair of first-year swimmers played pivotal roles in guiding the Tigers to dominant victories over Fresno Pacific and Cal State East Bay last Saturday at the Eberhardt Aquatics Center.

"We are so excited for Javier and Christina," sixth-year head coach Katelyne Herrington said. "Javier had an incredible first dual meet posting one impressive time after the next. This is just the beginning for him and I'm excited to see what's in store for him this season. Christina is a fierce competitor, and this past weekend showed just that. She had a tough line up swimming the 1000 and 200 freestyle back-to-back, as well as the 500 free and 400 free relay. Not everyone can do that line up, but Christina swept those events with a smile!"

Guillen, a native of Inca, Spain, collected first place in the men's 500 yard freestyle with a 4:35.61, and earned the top spot in the men's 200 yard butterfly with a 1:46.03. Guillen also took part in the men's 400 yard freestyle relay and men's 200 yard medley relay.

Agiomamitou, a native of Nicosia, Cyprus, competed in one of the longest races of the event, earning first place in the women's 1,000 yard freestyle with a 10:27.30. She also finished in first in the women's 200 yard freestyle and women's 500 yard freestyle. Agiomamitou rounded out the home-opening meet as a key member of the women's 400 yard freestyle relay.

Agiomamitou, Guillen and the rest of the Tigers' swimming squad look ahead to their next meet, heading to Santa Cruz, California to take on San Jose State and host UC Santa Cruz on Saturday, October 26 at noon.
