Leroy and Solano Set School Records at Sunshine Open

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Pacific women's track & field saw two Tigers set school records at the Sunshine Indoor Open on Saturday at Westmont Track.
 
Junior Ella Leroy set two of Pacific's school records. The Chicago native earned fifth place with a personal best 11.83m throw in the shot put. Leroy later followed with 34.82m to clinch third in the javelin throw.  
 
Freshman Giana Solano achieved a school record in the 600m. The Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. native ran a time of 1:44.46 to earn fourth in the event.
 
Solano also competed in the field events for the first time in her career. She placed fourth (4.55m) in the long jump and seventh (9.54m) in the triple jump.
 
Sophomore Serena Yee earned third with 1.42m in the high jump which was the highest she has placed in any event in her career. The Lodi, Calif. native was also fifth (9.94m) in the triple jump and 10th (4.31m) in the long jump.  
 
Freshman Nadia Garcia Martinez finished ninth in the javelin throw with 15.25m. The Manteca, Calif. native also finished 12th on a personal best 9.16m in the shot put.
 
Up next, Pacific competes at the West Coast Twilight hosted by Chabot College on Friday, Mar. 1.
