Swim Takes Eleven First Place Finishes Against Cal Poly in Season Finale

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif- Pacific men's and women's swim took eleven first place finishes in their meet against Cal Poly, but fell to the Mustangs in their regular season finale.
 
The Tigers opened the afternoon with the 200 medley relays. The women claimed second with a 1:44.79. The men took first behind Leland Baltazar, Srboljub Filipovic, Aidan Vollmar and Dylan Parente. They beat out Cal Poly by .14 of a second, finishing with a 1:30.33 for the second fastest time in the event this season.
 
Sophomore Diana Chan took second in the 1000 free with a 10:38.63 with junior Ellie Macphail right behind clocking a personal best 10:39.02.
 
Junior Jadyn Phillips followed with a first place finish and personal best 1:52.04 in the 200 free. Junior Alexia Ferguson took third with a 1:53.52. Junior Mitchell Hopper also nabbed a first place finish in the 200 free, clocking a 1:38.02.
 
Junior Leland Baltazar took second in the 100 back with a 49.43, his third fastest time in the event this season. Junior Srboljub Fillipovic raced a new personal best 57.76 in the 100 breast.
 
Senior Caitlin Tan and junior Noemi Melendez delivered the 1-2 punch in the 200 fly. Tan clocked a 2:03.31, her third fastest time this season, with Melendez following with a season best 2:05.39. Senior Aidan Scott took second in the 200 fly with a season best 1:50.48.
 
Ferguson took the 50 free with a 24.23, edging out Cal Poly by .15 of a second. Senior Dylan Parente claimed first with a 20.72, his third fastest time in the sprint this year. 
 
Phillips returned for the 100 free, claiming second with a 52.45, .06 seconds short of her personal best. Hopper took first in the men's 100 free, finishing at 45.00.
 
Sophomore Gabe Windmiller raced to a fourth place finish and a season best 4:39.62 in the 500 free.
 
Tan and Melendez followed up their 1-2 finish in the 200 fly with a 1-2 finish in the 100 fly. Tan claimed first with a 55.23 and Melendez followed with a 56.15. Hopper took first in the men's 100 fly, clocking a 49.01, his second fastest time this season.
 
Junior Paige Sondgeroth took third in the 200 IM with a 2:07.13, her second fastest time this year.
 
The Tigers ended the meet sweeping first in the 200 free relays. The women, behind Alexia Ferguson, Noemi Melendez, Caitlin Tan and Jordyn Gonzales, clocked a 1:35.61. The men, behind Mitchell Hopper, Dylan Parente, Alex Kurotori and Leland Baltazar, took first by nearly a full second, finishing with a 1:22.27.
 
Pacific returns at the end of February for the MPSF Conference Championships in St. George, Utah.
