Tigers Capture Three Singles Wins in loss to Rebels

Box Score LAS VEGAS, Nev.- Pacific women's tennis team came up short of UNLV 4-3, after capturing three single match victories on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Tigers (1-1) opened the afternoon with highly competitive doubles matches against the Rebels (2-2). Junior Liza Mladentseva and freshman Milena Maiorova's back and forth with UNLV's Salsa Aher and Aura Fang went 4-4 before the Rebels clinched the doubles point on courts one and two.
 
Pacific struck back on courts four, one and six after playing through the match. Senior Klara Kosan, junior Megan Carmichael and freshman Milena Maiorova each improved to 2-0 on the weekend, notching the three wins for the Tigers.
 
Carmichael got the edge over Hanna Vinahradava 6-4, 7-5 on court four to put the Tigers on the board. Kosan battled back to claim her win after dropping the first set to Zita Kovacs on court one. She took the next two sets to defeat Kovacs 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.
 
Maiorova claimed the final point for Pacific after splitting the first two sets with Aura Fang. She bested Fang 7-5, 5-7, 1-0 (10-4) on court six.
 
The Tigers return tomorrow for their final match in Las Vegas, taking on Weber State at 10 a.m.
