SANTA CRUZ, Calif.- The Pacific beach volleyball team captured three pairs wins in 4-1 losses to Portland, CSU Bakersfield and Sacramento State in the Big West/WCC Challenge.
 
Sophomore Josephine Kinlan and junior Ashley Davies collected a win over the Pilots, defeating Taylor Helle and Annika Stammberger 22-20, 21-17. 
 
Two pairs went to three sets, starting at the one with senior Camdyn Albrecht and sophomore Kelea Saxton Vaka. After falling in the first set, the two muscled back to a 21-17 in the second. Portland's Elin Larsson and Leonie Freytag edged them out 15-10 to grab the win.
 
Senior Miranda Baptista and graduate student Jadyn Tubbs fell in the opening set before eclipsing Kili Robins and Elena Bullemer 21-18 in the second. The Pilots claimed the final set for the score.
 
Returning later that morning, the Roadrunners and Tigers went head-to-head, with Pacific swiping a point in the 4-1 defeat. Albrecht and Saxton Vaka swiped the 21-12, 21-16 over the Roadrunners at the first flight for their first win together this season.
 
The Tigers closed out the day with Sacramento State. Baptista and Tubbs stood firm in two 21-18 decisions to put Pacific on the board. Albrecht and Saxton Vaka claimed their second set 23-21 to force the tie breaker, but fell in the third set to the Hornets. Kinlan and Davies took their second set to force a third after a 21-17 win, but fell to Sac State in the tiebreaker.
 
Pacific has some time away before its home debut against San Jose State on Wednesday, March 13 at the Raney Sand Volleyball Courts at 3:30 p.m.
