STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific baseball team jumped out to an early 5-0 lead, but ultimately could not hold on, falling to Minnesota, 12-5, on Monday at Klein Family Field.
The Tigers drop to 2-6 at home and 2-9 overall on the season while the Gophers improve to 5-5.
Junior
Jakob Guardado pitched marvelously in his third start of the season, going 5.0 innings, and allowing just one run on three hits while striking out a season-high five batters.
Sophomore
Jake Tandy fueled the offense in the early going, collecting a pair of hits and three RBIs. Sophomore
Jack Metcho reached base safely for an 11th consecutive game, recording two hits and a run scored.
The Tigers brought their A-game early, scoring five runs in the bottom of the first. Senior
Chase Graves led off the inning with one of his two walks on the night and ultimately scored on a wild pitch for the game's opening run. Sophomore

John-Howard Bobo with an RBI groundout to put the Tigers up 2-0.
After a couple more free passes to the Tigers, Tandy cleared the bases with a towering double to centerfield, driving in three runs and extending the Pacific lead to 5-0.
Guardado cruised through five frames, giving up just one run in the top of the fourth on a wild pitch. The Tigers played some solid defense behind their starter as well, which featured Bobo throwing out a runner at home plate for a double play to limit the Gophers' threat.
In the top of the sixth, Minnesota erupted for nine runs, including three home runs in the frame, to take a 10-5 lead.
The Gophers would tack on two more runs later on and eventually would go on to win the ball game, 12-5.
The Tigers return to action at 6:05 pm tomorrow as the team heads to Fresno State. Since 2013, the Tigers own a 9-8 record against the Bulldogs.
