Pacific Sets Personal Records During Two-Meet Weekend

STOCKTON, Calif. – Pacific track and field participated at the Triton Invite hosted by UC San Diego at the Triton Track and Field Stadium and the Sacramento State Invitational at Hornet Stadium this weekend.
 
Pacific saw 10 Tigers set personal records and one register a school record.
 
Leading the way at the Triton Invite was junior Ella Leroy. The Chicago native notched the school record in the javelin as she threw for a personal best 37.87m. Leroy placed third in her section and 10th overall. She later earned 12th in the shot put on a throw of 10.89m.
 
In the 800m, junior Sophia Livingston and freshman Gianna Solano registered personal best times of 2:23.05 and 2:24.60. Livingston earned sixth in section and 23rd overall while Solano was fourth and 30th.
 
Sophomore Emily Wernli recorded a PR time of 4:53.19 to finish fifth in section and 16th overall in the 1500m. Freshman Valeria Espinoza earned a personal best in the 5000m finishing 23rd overall at 19:41.18.
 
At the Sacramento State Invitational, Pacific placed seventh overall as a team.
 
Two Tigers earned top five finishes in the 1500m. Leading the way was senior Anahi Avila Perez who registered third overall on a personal best time of 5:08.95. Junior Elisabeth Garner (5:15.25) came two spots behind in fifth place.
 
Freshman Alexa Meyers also set a PR in the event with 5:40.33, finishing 10th overall.
 
Freshman Alondra Lopez notched a personal best time of 1:07.86 to finish fourth in section and 18th overall in the 400m.
 
Sophomore Serena Yee set two PRs in the field portion of the meet. The Lodi, Calif. native posted seventh at 1.49m in the high jump and 11th at 10.20m in the triple jump.
 
Freshman Nadia Garcia Martinez recorded 11th in both her events on personal bests. The Manteca, Calif. native notched 9.35m in the shot put and later followed with 27.94m in the hammer throw.
 
Up next, Pacific competes at the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific on Apr. 11 through 13.
