STOCKTON, Calif. – Sophomore
Dora Alaksza was named a Women's Water Polo All-America Honorable Mention, the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches announced Thursday.
The ACWPC All-America award is a prestigious honor that recognizes athletes nationally and throughout all collegiate divisions. This award is presented to water polo athletes who exhibit immense talent in the pool, provide leadership, and have helped build and advance the sport. Recipients are selected by ACWPC member coaches.
Alaksza was a key catalyst for the offense of the Tigers, who were nationally ranked throughout the 2024 campaign.
The Budapest, Hungary native shattered her freshman records by scoring a career-high 93 goals and 110 points in 27 games. Alaksza led Pacific in drawn exclusions (20), goals, points, shots on goal (185), shooting percentage (.503) and steals (42), while scoring at least one goal in each game for the Tigers during the season.
Further supplementing her impressive year, Alaksza scored the most goals among the members of the Golden Coast Conference and sixth-most goals in the country. Her 3.4 goals-per-game mark and 4.1 points-per-game mark were among the top ten in the country.
Alaksza was named GCC Player of the Week once this season during the week of Feb. 15, and was selected to the GCC First Team All-Conference. Alaksza was a member of the 2024 Cutino Award Watch List.
