Pacific Grabs Top-25 Spot in Mid-Major Rankings

STOCKTON, Calif.- Recognition continues to accrue for the Pacific men's tennis team after a sensational 2024 season. In the recently released ITA Mid-Major rankings, Pacific now adds a No. 19 ITA Mid-Major ranking to their list of accomplishments. The Tigers ended the year ranked No. 57 in the nation with a 19-6 record overall, finishing runner-up in the UTR Sports NIT Championship.

The ITA established the mid-major rankings within the past few years as a formal recognition to include the top-25 teams outside of the Power Five Conferences. This year's ranking marks the first for any Pacific tennis team.

"It is great to see our program, and our players get recognized at both the regional, and national levels," head coach Robin Goodman shared.  "For us to be ranked in the Top 20 nationally amongst mid-majors is something we are very proud of."

The Tigers are one of four West Coast Conference teams to make this season's rankings. All four programs made postseason berths, as Pacific made its first postseason appearance since 2004. The Tigers made the NIT Championship final after defeating Eastern Kentucky and No. 56 Liberty.

Rising junior Tiago Silva made the ITA Northwest Regional singles rankings, taking the No. 15 spot after posting a 15-7 singles record this season. As a team, the Tigers clinched the No. 3 spot in the Northwest Regional rankings.

Silva was pivotal in Pacific's turnaround season. He held a 10-2 mark from court three, where he downed the other three ITA ranked mid-major WCC schools (Santa Clara, San Diego and Pepperdine). His most notable win came over then ranked No. 13 San Diego, which elevated the Tigers to a 14-match winning streak and first national ranking since 2016.
