PULLMAN, Wash. – The Pacific men's golf team completed its 2024-25 season opener at the Palouse Collegiate, finishing in ninth-place on Wednesday at the Palouse Ridge Golf Club.
The Tigers (-12/840) dropped two spots from the first day to wrap-up the two-day tournament in the middle of the pack of the 15-team field. Utah claimed first place in the team leaderboard with a score of 52-under-par. Colorado (-34) and Oregon State (-28) rounded out the podium.
"There were definitely some positives to build on," head coach
John Cook said. "Not the team results we wanted today. Deitrek [Gill] played phenomenal this week. He had two bogie free rounds while having his first top-ten finish. We're looking forward to preparing for our next week's tournament back east."
Junior
Deitrek Gill put together his best career performance as a Tiger with a ten-under-par, standing in eighth place on the individual leaderboard. Utah's Sergio Jimenez shot the lowest score, earning a 21-under-par.
Sophomore
Carlos Astiazaran and junior
Timothy Jung completed the Palouse Collegiate in the top half with one-under-par each. Junior
Travis Robbie finished with a one-over-par while sophomore
Justin Bai collected a nine-over-par.
Junior
Ian Fritz, who competed as an individual in the tournament, recorded a one-under-par after shooting a two-under-par in the third round.
The Tigers look ahead to their next tournament, traveling to the 2024 The Goat in Annapolis, Maryland.
