Golf Team Victory at Navy

Pacific Wins First Tournament Since 2014 with Crown Title at Navy

ANNAPOLIS, M.D. – Claiming its first tournament title in a decade, the Pacific men's golf program won The Goat by nine strokes after three rounds over the weekend at Naval Academy Golf Club, hosted by Navy.

The Tigers capped the final round with one-under-par to secure the top spot of the 15-team field and earned their first team tournament trophy since 2014. Junior Travis Robbie, junior Timothy Jung and junior Deitrek Gill all stood within the top five with Robbie and Jung collecting top three finishes on one-under-pars.

"We fought hard today to find a way to pull off the win," head coach John Cook said. "I am definitely excited for the team effort. We had three guys inside the top five. We will use this as motivation to continue to improve each and every tournament."

Gill, who led the individual leaderboard after day one of The Goat, completed the tournament with an even par to stand in a four-way tie for fifth place overall.

Sophomore Justin Bai and sophomore Carlos Astiazaran rounded out the Tigers lineup in the top 25. Bai finished with a five-over-par while Astiazaran earned a seven-over.

The Tigers look to carry this momentum and confidence into next tournament, taking place October 7 at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational, hosted by Cal in Fairfield, California.
