No. 7 Pacific Pulls Out 15-14 Road Win over No. 15 Harvard

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In a match in-which the No. 7 Pacific men's water polo program never trailed, the Tigers defeated No. 15 Harvard 15-14 before closing the weekend with a 21-3 exhibition win over MIT on Sunday at Blodgett Pool.

After a 5-5 first quarter, Pacific (2-0) held Harvard (2-1) to just one goal in the second and carried an 8-6 lead into the half. The Tigers continued to lead 15-12 late in the fourth quarter when the Crimson cut it to 15-14 and had the ball with one last look, but Pacific secured the victory with a last-second defensive stand.

"I'm very happy to get a big win on the road. We are making steps towards the championship habits we will need for the end of the season. This weekend gave us great information and we will use it to adapt for our tough games ahead," said head coach James Graham.

Senior Mihailo Vukazic registered a game-high five goals including four in the first quarter. Graduate Matthew Hosmer, graduate Stefan Vavic and senior Jeremie Cote each found the back of the net twice.

Pacific improved to 7-1 all-time against Harvard.

Against MIT, the Tigers raced out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter to put the game out of reach. Graduate Bae Fountain made his second start of the day in net, while Lewis Gale played the final half.

Pacific will make its second consecutive trip out east next weekend when it plays four games at Princeton. It begins with a 9:30 a.m. (PT) match Saturday against George Washington.
