Pacific graduate Devon Thumwood returned to campus in the fall of 2022 as Assistant Director of Athletics for Business Operations. He joined Pacific from Armanino LLP in San Ramon, Calif., where he served as an auditor.
 
He spent three years with the American Hockey League Stockton Heat organization, starting in premium seating sales and moving into the role of Director of Business Operations in his final two years. He oversaw both revenue and expenses within the organization, including corporate and ticket sales.  
 
Thumwood originally came to Pacific in 2014 from his native of Calgary, Alberta Canada. He was a member of the men’s water polo team from 2014 to 2017, earning All-America honors in 2015, 2016 and 2017. A team captain for the 2017 team, he helped guide the Tigers to the Golden Coast Conference championship and a berth in the national semifinals in the NCAA Tournament. He received all-conference honors from the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation in 2015 and 2016 and from the Golden Coast Conference in 2017. He was also a three-year honoree on All-Academic Teams.
 
Thumwood was a member of the Canadian national team program in water polo for eight years, competing with the junior team from 2011-13 and with the Senior National Team from 2012-19, traveling throughout the world to compete. He represented Team Canada at the World Championships in Budapest in 2017, FISU Games in Kazan in 2013 and in Taiwan in 2017, along with many other international tournaments. Following graduation, he played professionally in Perth for a year.
 
He completed a dual degree from the Eberhardt School of Business at Pacific, earning a master’s and bachelors in accounting, graduating in December 2018. A Dean’s Honor Roll student, Thumwood also served for four years on the Pacific Student-Advisory Council.
