Box Score Full West Coast Conference Release
San Bruno, Calif. - The Pacific Women's soccer has placed seven student-athletes on the West Coast Conference Women's Soccer All-Academic team, the conference office announced in a release on Friday morning.
Seniors Shayda Ansari (Management and Human Resources, 3.43 GPA) and Cheyenne Somers (Sport Management, 3.42 GPA) joined juniors Ebony Ezeji (Natural Sciences, 3.24 GPA), Eliza Hard (Speech-Language Pathology, 3.85 GPA) and Lena Perry (Health and Exercise Science, 3.59 GPA) with honorable mention designation. In addition, sophomores Julia Beck (Exploratory, 3.34 GPA) and Hannah Terry (Sport Pedagogy, 3.27 GPA) also garnered honorable mention plaudits.
Each Pacific honoree has made a lasting impact this season as the group has combined for 95 games played thus far in the 2015 campaign. Ansari and Somers leave the Pacific program as senior leaders in the classroom, having garnered All-Academic honors in each year of eligibility for the award, dating back to Pacific's time in the Big West Conference. Ezeji and Hard are also repeat honorees while Beck, Perry and Terry each picked up the award in their first season of eligbility.
At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to her team. his season no fewer than 62 WCC women's soccer student-athletes met the criteria for selection easily outdistancing the 53 eligible in 2014.
Pacific will wrap up West Coast Conference play on Friday night at San Diego. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 pm and a live stream is available via TheW.tv, the official digital network of the West Coast Conference.
