STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific volleyball team continues postseason play on Saturday, Dec. 3, as it takes on Santa Clara in the second round of the National Invitational Volleyball Championship.

The Tigers (17-13), coming off their first postseason victory since 2017, earned a four-set win over Omaha in the tournament's first round. The team had five players in double figures for digs, a sign of a tremendous defensive effort that held Omaha to a .064 hitting percentage.

Biamba Kabengele recorded 22 kills throughout the contest, marking the fourth time she surpassed 20 kills in a match this season. Tallying a season-high 14 digs, the Burlington, Ontario senior registered her 10th double-double of the season.

Edwards also contributed to the winning efforts, recording her team-leading 11th double-double of the season with 17 kills and 11 digs. Jenna Heller added 40 assists and 19 digs, and Jadyn Tubbs closed with 16 digs for the Tigers.

Santa Clara entered the 2022 NIVC with a sub-.500 record but continued a hot streak with its fifth straight win, getting past host Portland State, 3-1, to move into the second round.

Julia Sangiacomo had 17 kills for the Broncos (13-18), Layla Truitt closed with 15, and Sophia Tulino added 10. Nive Tuileta contributed to the winning efforts with 48 assists and nine digs, and she had a solo block for the final point in the second set. Kat Georgiadis finished with 18 digs.

Since the first-ever meeting during the 1975 season, Pacific has defeated Santa Clara 36 times. The two teams faced off twice during the regular season, splitting both matches. The Tigers dropped the home opener, falling in four sets on September 27 but defeated the Broncos, 3-1, on the road on October 20.
