SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – Competing in the Midseason Invitational, the Pacific beach volleyball team dropped two dual matches, falling 5-0 to Santa Clara and Portland Friday afternoon at the Santa Cruz Main Beach.
Jenny Todd and
Lucy Carpenter were the lone pairings to earn a set win against the Broncos, taking the first set 21-19 at the second doubles position. The duo, competing together for the second time this season, dropped the next set 21-16 and then the deciding set, 15-9, as the Broncos' Julia Sangiacomo and Sophia Tulino earned the come from behind victory.
Brooklynn Thomas and
Shahrzad Sadeghi earned a set win at the third doubles position against Portland, taking the first set 21-19. Thomas and Sadeghi, who has teamed up once before this season, earned their first set win as a doubles pairing before dropping the following two sets, 21-19 and 15-11, as the Pilots earned the victory.
After the loss to Santa Clara, the Tigers fell to the Silver Bracket and will take on San Jose State, who split with Pepperdine and San Francisco earlier in the morning.
