SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The Pacific beach volleyball team, fresh off competing in the CSU Bakersfield Tournament last weekend, took on Sacramento State and West Coast Conference foes San Francisco and Saint Mary's Saturday morning at the Hornet Beach Challenge.

In the first two dual matches of the day, the Tigers held their own, earning three combined wins against Sacramento State and San Francisco. The doubles pair of Megan Nishimura and Shahrzad Sadeghi swept through both of their matches, starting with a 20-22, 21-16, 15-5 come from behind victory against Karlee Soderberg and Caty Cordano of Sacramento State.

The duo backed up their play later, defeating Bruna Correa and Francesca Stanschus of San Francisco, 23-21, 19-21, 15-9. Nishimura and Sadeghi were close to earning a third victory on the day but fell short against Saint Mary's, losing 11-21, 21-12, 15-13.

The first doubles team of Jenny Todd and Sammie Sheppard also came out victorious against the Hornets, rallying to defeat Macey Hayden and Kalani Hayes, 14-21, 21-18, 16-14.
