Volleyball Conference Home Opening Weekend Against San Francisco, Santa Clara

STOCKTON, Calif.- The Pacific women's volleyball team return home to host their first set of conference games at the Alex G. Spanos Center this weekend. San Francisco comes to town on Thursday Sept. 28 at 6 p.m. for Youth Night, while Santa Clara arrives on Saturday Sept. 30 at noon for AVCA Girls & Women's Volleyball Officials Appreciation.

The Tigers opened conference action on the road last week in Malibu, taking on Pepperdine. While all three sets were decided 25-23, Pacific was unable to get the edge on the Waves and fell 3-0 on the road. The Tigers hit .229 while overwhelming Pepperdine with 51 kills. Senior Biamba Kabengele led the Tigers with 18, while senior Alexa Edwards added 13 to the total. Junior Megan Nishimura continues her dominance on defense, adding 18 more digs last week to bring her total to 197 digs on the year.

The Tigers look to bounce back into the win column with San Francisco (8-6, 2-0 WCC) and Santa Clara (9-5, 1-1 WCC) coming to town.

Four Dons possess over 100 kills on the season so far, with Maria Petkova leading the team with 133. Karolina Nova follows suit with 125, while Lindsay Oldenforf (107) and Kennedy Muckelroy (101) round out the remaining two. Abby Wadas helps bolster the Dons defense, with her 218 digs on the year. She averages 3.89 digs/s, while Nova (2.05 digs/s) and Aylen Ayub (2.25 digs/s) also add to San Francisco's defensive efforts.

The Tigers hold an 8-2 record at home against San Francisco and currently lead the series 16-4 since 2013. Pacific has won seven of their last ten matches against the Dons, including their 3-0 sweep most recently on the road last year.

Santa Clara is led by Sophia Tulino, who averages 3.48 kills/s. Tulino has 188 on the year, while Layla Truitt assists the Broncos scoring with her 3.04 kills/s. She follows Tulino with 158 on the season. Kat Georgiadis leads the defensive charge for Santa Clara with her 179 digs while averaging 3.31 digs/s. Nive Tuileta also lifts up the Broncos defense, with her 117 digs and 2.21 digs/s.

The Tigers hold a winning record at home over the Broncos, having won six games since 2013, but their most recent win came on the road. Pacific claimed the 3-1 win over Santa Clara in late 2022.
